Yes, it can. Importation for immigrants is duty-free, provided you have possessed your vehicle for at least 12 months prior to importation. There will be VAT payable on the vehicle. Returning South Africans are not required to obtain an import permit, however, they must still pay duty and VAT.

It is possible. However, duty-free importation of household goods is granted to new immigrants into South Africa. If you are a returning South African resident, duty-free importation is also granted, provided you have been outside of South Africa for a minimum of 6 months. There is a duty that must be paid on all brand new household items, furniture, gifts, and alcohol.
Am I able to pack my belongings myself?
Yes, you can. If you prefer to pack some of your goods yourself, we can provide you with the packing materials needed and a packing guide to help you with this.
Am I able to have my container delivered directly to my home in South Africa?
Yes, provided the streets are wide enough and there is vehicle access to your home.
Am I able to import my firearms when I move to South Africa?
Yes, you can. However, when importing firearms, you must obtain an import permit, along with a South African Police Firearm Registrar certificate.
